𝟮𝟰 𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲 – Ziua Unirii Principatelor Române

Sărbătoare emblematică a Iașului, 24 ianuarie marchează 166 ani de la Unirea Principatelor Române.

Curajul și sacrificiul ieșenilor care au renunțat la capitală pentru a oferi românilor o Românie modernă, o țară în adevăratul sens al cuvântului este motivul pentru care afirmăm: „România s-a născut la Iași!”

Este meritul incontestabil al unei elite intelectuale și politice care a făcut Revoluţia de la 1848 și, iată, doar un deceniu mai târziu reușea îndeplinirea unuia dintre obiectivele asumate în proiectul revoluţionar.

Conjunctura nu a fost nici atunci liniștită. Dar într-o mare de interese contradictorii ale Marilor Puteri, unioniștii români au avut inteligenţa, curajul și neînduplecarea de a-și îndeplini visul. Și șansa a ţinut atunci cu cei hotărâţi.

Dacă despre Unirea de la 1918 se poate spune fără greșeală că este „Mare“, a folosi formula de „Mica Unire“ pentru actul din 24 ianuarie 1859 nu este la fel de justificat. Actul fondator al naţiunii este cel din 1859, atunci România apare pe hartă prin unirea fostelor Principate Dunărene.
